Pet Medical Center in Tennessee seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, exams, and routine lab work. You will monitor hospitalized pets, educate clients, and help with surgical procedures in a compassionate team environment.

Responsibilities include taking histories and vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, handling medications, and maintaining clean, organized clinics.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary settings preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts with help.
• Follow OSHA safety protocols including PPE usage.
• Basic math for medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office.
• Strong communication to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-house lab work; prepare specimens for external labs.
• Take and process radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments under veterinary guidance.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and equipment.
