Job summary

Pet Medical Center in Forrest Park, TN is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, manage supplies, and assist with surgical procedures.

You will educate clients about veterinary care, perform routine in-house laboratory work, and maintain a calm, compassionate approach. No weekends; on-call and boarding are not part of the schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and surgeries as needed.
• Take histories, vitals, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house laboratory tests, prepare specimens for external labs.
• Acquire radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restraint during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian.
• Restock exam rooms, clean areas and maintain equipment.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team about patient plans and concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
