Job summary

Broken Arrow Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, and handling routine lab work. The role also involves client education, preparing prescriptions, and assisting with surgeries.

We value careful, compassionate care with a focus on teamwork. Weekend availability is required, and basic math and computer skills help ensure safe, precise dosing and record-keeping in a busy, friendly clinic

Qualifications

• Weekend availability required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts with help.
• Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and maintain inventory.
• Prepare prescriptions and perform routine in-house lab work.
• Obtain samples and prepare specimens for labs; maintain laboratory records.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures and maintain equipment.
• Assist with surgical procedures and client education.
• Maintain clean and organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and labs.
