Job summary

Osage Animal Hospital offers comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats, including in-house lab work, advanced surgery, radiology and CT, dentistry, and boarding. The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, and educates clients on care and procedures.

The role involves assisting with surgeries, taking histories and vital signs, preparing prescriptions, and performing routine in-house lab work.

Qualifications

• Assist veterinarians in exams and surgeries.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during surgery.
• Perform in-house lab work and collect samples.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Assist with outpatient exams and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain and process samples; perform in-house lab tests.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and equipment; support team members.
