Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care patients and their owners. You will greet clients, record vital signs, assist with exams, surgery, dentistry, and anesthesia under supervision, and help maintain medical records.

Qualifications

Preferred to have at least 1-year previous experience working in veterinary practice or animal care.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

Greet clients and patients, record vital signs, and document in the EMR.
Assist doctors with routine and emergency visits, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
Handle medications, perform patient restraint, and support anesthesia as directed.
Schedule appointments, provide client education, and maintain patient records.
Prepare patients for procedures, monitor during anesthesia, and assist with discharge.
Provide in-hospital treatments and ensure patient comfort, feeding, and care.
Assist in training new staff and maintain a clean, orderly hospital environment.
Provide backup front desk support as needed.
