Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to provide top-notch care for our Vetco Total Care patients and excellent service to pet owners. You will support doctors with exams, surgeries, and anesthesia, while maintaining EMRs and patient comfort.

The role demands empathy, teamwork, and strong communication in a fast-paced hospital setting. Applicants should have at least 1 year of veterinary experience, excellent written and verbal communication, and be prepared to engage with clients and pets

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong telephone and computer skills.
Compassionate and sympathetic demeanor under stress.

Responsibilities

Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals, and document in EMR.
Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
Perform patient restraint, collect samples, dispense medications per vet.
Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, maintain records.
Prepare patients for procedures and assist with anesthesia and monitoring.
In-hospital treatments and care as directed by the veterinarian and staff.
Train new staff and disseminate knowledge as required.
Keep hospital environment clean and well-maintained.
