Long Island Animal Hospital in Westbury, NY is seeking a qualified Veterinary Assistant for a full-time position in a small general practice (dogs and cats). You will work closely with doctors and technicians to support patient care, perform animal handling and restraint, assist with medical treatments and diagnostics, and help maintain accurate health records.

Qualifications

• 1 year of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, etc.).

Description

Long Island Animal Hospital - Westbury, New York. Pay range $18-22/hr depending on experience. Long Island Animal Hospital is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a full time Veterinary Assistant position in a small general practice (dog and cat), with a family like atmosphere, located in Westbury, NY. Our assistants are valuable members of our medical teams and play a crucial role in patient care and client service. You will work closely with doctors and technicians to increase the efficiency within our hospital as well as the level of care we provide as a team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Providing estimates and processing invoices
• Animal handling and restraint
• Assistdoctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures

• Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
• Restock and organize medical supplies
• Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set

Compensation

• $18-22/hour depending on experience

Skills and Qualifications

• 1 year of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other), required
• Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks
• Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environmentand able to handle stress in a calm manner
• Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude.
• Must be able to anticipate and be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine.Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least40 pounds,and work on feet most of the day.
