Job summary

Oath Animal Hospital in East Meadow, NY, is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians, technicians, and staff in delivering outstanding animal care and client service.

Salary is $18-$22 per hour, based on skills and experience. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, retirement, PTO, pet discount, 401(k) with match, and a competitive sign-on bonus. Schedule includes weekdays and Saturdays as listed.

Qualifications

• Experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of disinfection, administering medications, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Schedule: This is a full time position. Scheduled shifts include Monday and Friday from 7:45 AM–6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM–3:00 PM.
