Job summary

Island Trees Veterinary Hospital in Hicksville, New York is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our experienced team dedicated to exceptional care and client partnership. You will assist veterinarians, handle animals safely, maintain records, and educate clients while supporting a fast-paced clinic environment.

Must be able to lift 50lbs and work Fridays and Saturdays. Join a supportive team that values growth and outstanding patient care, with opportunities for ongoing education and career

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Strong animal handling skills, able to manage timid or stressed patients.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; client education.
• Available to work Friday and Saturday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and patient care.
• Safely handle and restrain animals; husbandry, cleaning, laundry, providing patient care as directed by the veterinarian.
• Handling lab samples and preparing for courier pickup.
• Medical charting, maintaining accurate patient records.
• Cross train as a client service representative.
• Educate clients on pet care and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Able to lift 50lbs without assistance.

• Must have their own transportation.

Pay range

Up to $23.00 based on experience
