Thrive Pet Healthcare’s Powell Veterinary Center on Powell Blvd is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our busy, collaborative general practice in Portland, OR. This role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends or overnight shifts, supporting veterinarians and a thriving team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Powell Veterinary Center on Powell Blvd is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

We are a busy, collaborative general practice committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and outstanding service to our clients. We're looking for a compassionate, motivated Veterinary Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is eager to grow their skills while supporting both appointments and procedures.

Role Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with treatments, procedures, diagnostics, and patient care in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns, medications, preventive care, and Thrive Membership options.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.
• Obtain patient histories and update medical charts.
• Utilize safe animal handling and restraint techniques.
• Help maintain clean, organized, and sterile treatment, laboratory, and exam room areas.
• Assist with admitting and discharging patients and providing excellent client communication throughout their visit.

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with pay starting at $21 per hour. The actual rate offered will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
