Berclair Animal Hospital in Memphis is seeking a compassionate Veterinarian Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians across a broad range of cases. You will help with patient restraint, sample collection, imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and post‑operative care while communicating clearly with clients.

Responsibilities

Job Description

What You’ll Do

In this veterinary role, your responsibilities may include:

• Safely restraining patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Triaging incoming veterinary patients and helping the team prioritize care
• Collecting and processing laboratory samples
• Assisting with diagnostic imaging, including digital radiographs
• Providing nursing care and monitoring hospitalized patients with varying levels of stability
• Administering medications as directed by the veterinary team
• Obtaining medical histories and communicating treatment plans and instructions to clients
• Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with veterinary surgical procedures
• Supporting anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
• Helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming veterinary environment

Our hospital uses modern veterinary technology and diagnostic tools, including ultrasound, digital X-ray, in-house laboratory capabilities, and other diagnostic equipment. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians while gaining exposure to a wide range of cases and services.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who has:

• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience
• Weekend and holiday availability
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills
• Experience with sample collection, medical histories, laboratory testing, and radiographs
• An interest in continuing to develop veterinary skills and knowledge
• A self‑starter mindset and willingness to learn
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Anesthesia monitoring experience is a plus
