Job summary

South Maui Animal Clinic, part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare network, seeks a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join the team in Kihei, HI. The role includes hands-on patient care, lab work, client communication, and pre-/post-operative support.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of Vet Tech experience (2–3 years preferred). RVT/LVT may be considered. Expect a 4-day work week with Saturdays required, and a strong focus on compassionate pet care and client service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary experience as Vet Tech Assistant or Vet Tech; 2–3 years preferred.
• Registered, Licensed, or Certified Veterinary Technicians will be highly considered.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
• Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
• Commitment to outstanding client service and excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle animals and perform pre- and post-operative patient care.
• Create and present financial options and estimates for clients.
• Enter service charges accurately into the client processing database.
• Engage in extensive client interaction and education.
• Prepare medications and administer treatments as prescribed.
• Take X‑Rays and draw blood for testing.

South Maui Animal Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Technician Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Animal Handling
• Pre- and post-operative patient care
• Creating and presenting financial options and estimates
• Accurately entering service charges into client processing database
• Extensive client interaction and education
• Preparing medications
• Taking X-Rays of animals
• Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by our in-house veterinarians.
• Drawing blood samples for testing

Experience and Skills Requirements:

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience as a Vet Tech Assistant or Vet Tech, 2-3 years preferred.
• Registered, Licensed, and Certified Veterinary Technicians will also be highly considered.

Compensation-

$21-$25 Hourly depending on experience.
