Job summary

Central Maui Animal Clinic in Wailuku, HI is seeking a Lead Registered Veterinary Technician to mentor the nursing team and uphold exceptional patient care. This leadership role focuses on daytime operations, bridging the technician team with hospital leadership.

Qualifications

  • Current RVT license required.
  • Proven anesthesia monitoring experience.
  • Skilled in surgical nursing and patient care.

Responsibilities

This leadership position is focused on our daytime operations and serves as an essential bridge between the technician team and hospital leadership. You'll help create a positive, collaborative work environment while ensuring excellent patient care, team development, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do
Lead & Inspire
  • Coordinate daily technician assignments and workflow
  • Support a positive, engaged, and accountable team culture
  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource for veterinary support staff
  • Help onboard and train new team members
Develop Team Members
  • Assist with performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development
  • Foster continuous learning and growth through training initiatives and mentorship
  • Help identify strengths and opportunities for team advancement
Maintain Clinical Excellence
  • Support the delivery of high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care
  • Oversee controlled substance documentation and compliance
  • Monitor surgery logs and equipment maintenance protocols
  • Promote best practices in anesthesia, nursing care, and patient safety
Partner with Leadership
  • Facilitate effective communication between the veterinary team and hospital leadership
  • Address workflow challenges and help implement solutions
  • Support accountability conversations while maintaining a positive team environment
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license
  • Strong technical veterinary nursing skills
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring, surgical nursing, and patient care
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced clinical environment
  • Passion for coaching and developing others
