Job summary

South Maui Animal Clinic, part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare network, is seeking a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Technician Assistant in Kihei, HI. The role involves hands-on patient care, pre- and post-operative duties, and support across admissions, discharges, and client education.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of veterinary experience, with RVT/LVT considered. The position supports growth through ThriveU learning, and opportunities for credentialing within a collaborative team

Qualifications

• At least 1 year veterinary experience as Vet Tech Assistant or Vet Tech, 2–3 years preferred.
• Registered, licensed, and certified veterinary technicians will be highly considered.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
• Team player with strong client communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Animal handling and patient care (pre- and post-operative).
• Entering service charges into client processing system.
• Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
• Drawing blood samples for testing and performing basic lab work.

South Maui Animal Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Technician Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end‑to‑end care for our precious patients. Your life‑changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Animal Handling
• Pre‑and post‑operative patient care
• Creating and presenting financial options and estimates
• Accurately entering service charges into client processing database
• Extensive client interaction and education
• Preparing medications
• Taking X‑Rays of animals
• Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by our in‑house veterinarians.
• Drawing blood samples for testing

Experience and Skills Requirements:

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience as a Vet Tech Assistant or Vet Tech, 2‑3 years preferred.
• Registered, Licensed, and Certified Veterinary Technicians will also be highly considered.

Compensation-

$21-$25 Hourly depending on experience.
