Job Overview

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the Banfield Pet Hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with daily patient flow and client communication.

  • Perform tasks that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance, following state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, exam rooms and laboratories.

  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans® and the importance of preventive care.

  • Mentor other members of the hospital team.


Education & Qualifications


  • Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training and experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

  • Action‑oriented, customer‑focused, good listener and effective communicator.

Pay

Pay range: $15.19–$19.41 hourly. The rate will be determined based on experience, skill level and education, and may vary by location or applicable wage laws.
