The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates while maintaining the continuity of quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain the flow of patients through the practice.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians and vet technicians.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet technician assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets and treatment areas safe, clean, and organized.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care.
• Mentor and support other members of the hospital team.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

Compensation

Pay range: $18.40 – $23.51 per hour, based on experience, skill level, education, and local minimum wage laws.
