Join to apply for the Veterinarian for Non-Profit Clinic role at TieTalent.

This position plays a vital role in supporting the community, especially for clients and animals with limited access to care. The organization offers financial assistance and partners with funding groups to reduce financial burdens.

The associate veterinarian will provide care, treatment, and surgical services for client-owned and shelter animals at East Bay SPCA. The role involves spending 90-100% of the time in the Oakland clinic, with up to 10% in shelter care in Dublin or at high-volume spay/neuter clinics, working closely with a team led by the VP of Medical Services.

Reports to: VP of Medical Services
Salary: $140K - $180K + up to $20K bonuses

Responsibilities
  • Perform surgical procedures: ovariohysterectomy, castration, tumor/lump removal, hernia repair, tooth extractions, orthopedic and ocular procedures
  • Provide veterinary care: examinations, treatments, and evaluations of shelter and client animals
  • Collaborate on policies and procedures with the medical team
  • Maintain accurate medical and drug logs
  • Ensure quality care for clients, staff, and volunteers
  • Consult with clients and colleagues regularly
  • Stay updated on animal health protocols and surgical techniques
  • Build relationships with community, volunteers, and staff
Shelter Care (up to 10%)
  • Examine and treat shelter animals, evaluate their disposition
  • Maintain medical records for shelter animals
  • Work with behavior and training teams to ensure behavioral health
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and California Veterinary License
  • Ability to obtain DEA license within 60 days
  • Fear Free Certification within 90 days
  • Valid California Driver’s License and insurable driving record
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience managing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Physical & Work Conditions
  • Extended standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Work in shelter environment, exposure to outdoor conditions and animal waste
