Job summary

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a licensed DVM to lead high-volume spay/neuter surgeries across WHS campuses in Wisconsin. The role emphasizes compassionate client service and excellence in care for shelter animals.

You will ensure safe medical processes from intake to discharge, vaccinate animals, monitor health, and mentor staff and volunteers while upholding WHS values of empathy, respect, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• DVM degree and license required; high volume spay/neuter experience preferred.
• Ability to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
• Alignment with WHS mission and values of compassion, respect, kindness, and professionalism.
• Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume, high-quality, safe spay/neuter surgeries for public and/or shelter animals.
• Perform other surgeries as needed for shelter animals.
• Ensure safe, effective and efficient medical processes from check in to discharge, including follow-up.
• Vaccinate animals and provide quality medical screenings.
• Monitor the daily health of clients and/or shelter animals.
• Develop and implement treatment plans as needed for animals in shelter and foster.
• Provide medical information to clients and answer questions as needed.
• Train and support designated persons in all aspects of patient care and clinic practices, while maintaining a professional and positive approach.
• All other duties as assigned.

We have locations in Racine, Kenosha, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, West Allis, and Door County.

Key Accountabilities
