Opportunity

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a full‑time veterinarian to support animals and the community through spay/neuter surgery, vaccine clinics, and care for homeless animals in our shelter. The veterinarian reports to a supervising veterinarian and may work at the Racine Campus or split time between Racine and Kenosha campuses, depending on experience and organizational needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform high‑volume, high‑quality, safe spay/neuter surgeries for shelter and public animals.
• Perform other surgeries as needed for shelter animals.
• Ensure safe, effective and efficient medical processes from check‑in to discharge, including follow‑up.
• Vaccinate animals and provide quality medical screenings.
• Monitor the daily health of client and shelter animals.
• Provide medical information to clients and answer questions as needed.
• Develop and implement treatment plans for animals in shelter and foster care.
• Train and support WHS team members in all aspects of patient care and efficient/safe clinic practices, while maintaining a professional and positive approach.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• DVM degree and license required; high‑volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine experience preferred. Mentorship and training provided.
• Ability to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
