Job summary

Veterans Health Administration within the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Portland VA Health Care System is seeking a Transportation Assistant-Dispatcher to manage the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS). You will independently dispatch the Medical Center's VTS, communicate with veterans and staff, and determine eligibility for transportation support.

No educational substitution at this grade level.
Experience collecting and entering required data per program guidelines.

Responsibilities

Communicate with veterans, caretakers, clinical and voluntary staff and senior management to ensure program success.
Collect and enter all required data and forward correspondence to the appropriate department.
Independently manage the dispatch services for the Medical Center's VTS program.
Determine veteran eligibility for VTS services.
Arrange transportation for veterans using VTS vehicles and other resources.
Coordinate transportation plans with physicians, veterans, and drivers to meet needs.
Prepare documentation according to VTP guidelines.
Serve as liaison for VTS drivers in emergencies and ensure safe responses.
Document and prepare statistical reports for supervisor.
Make special arrangements for veterans per physician documentation.
Protect sensitive data from unauthorized release, loss, alteration, or deletion.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
