Job summary

Nova Southeastern University is seeking a patient access coordinator to enhance veterans’ access to healthcare services. The role focuses on registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and accurate data entry in EMR/billing systems to ensure timely, compliant, and high-quality patient care.

You will collaborate with faculty, students, residents, and administrative staff to streamline clinic operations and patient experiences while supporting financial processes and patient communications.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service and patient access experience.
• Experience with medical office or administrative operations preferred.
• Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English or Creole/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient access operations including registration, insurance verification, scheduling and patient flow.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage provider schedules.
• Verify insurance eligibility and process referrals/authorizations.
• Explain financial responsibilities and support patient account management.
• Enter and update patient data in EMR and billing systems.
• Monitor patient flow and queues to optimize care delivery.
• Respond to patient inquiries and maintain HIPAA-compliant service.
• Communicate with faculty, students, residents and staff for scheduling needs.
• Assist with insurance billing processes and documentation for third‑party/self-pay patients.
• Perform other duties to support clinic operations.
