Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Veterans Outreach Program Specialist to act as the primary outreach staff member for Reserve/National Guard veterans returning from GWOT era deployments.

The role involves extensive travel across an assigned area, developing outreach materials, coordinating events, and liaising with Veterans Service Organizations to connect veterans and their families with benefits and services offered by VHA, VBA and NCA.

Responsibilities

• Providing information, explanation of services, support, and connection to a variety of individuals regarding benefits and eligibility to VHA, VBA and NCA.
• Developing, managing, and distributing outreach materials (brochures, presentations, flyers, fact sheets, web content) highlighting Vet Center services and locations and the combat Veteran experience.
• Serving as a community liaison representing the Vet Center with Veterans Service Organizations, community groups and others to help Veterans and their families.
• Collaborating with Vet Center providers to initiate client referrals and follow up to ensure needs are met.
• Planning, coordinating, and executing outreach events; documenting contacts and activities; driving a GOV or Mobile Vet Center for outreach daily.
• Setting up and closing the Mobile Vet Center; schedule 8:00am-4:30pm; Telework not available.
