Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking a full-time Veterans Liaison to join our Hospice team, working Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm with some evenings in Frederick, MD.

The role focuses on expanding outreach to veterans, educating staff and the community on end-of-life needs, and developing a robust veteran outreach and volunteer program within our hospice services.

Travel to surrounding counties may be required; strong communication and collaboration with veteran organizations are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally, strong public speaking skills.
• Demonstrates ability to understand hospice regulations and reimbursement criteria.
• Ability to use word processing, database, and clinical information software applications.
• Must possess a working knowledge of VA benefits and have the skills to obtain and provide guidance on VA resources.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the appropriate use of hospice services to the veteran community.
• Provides veteran centered education to internal and external customers to increase awareness about veteran issues near end-of-life.
• Develops and implements veteran outreach efforts, collaborating with other local veteran organizations.
• Works collaboratively with the hospice Volunteer Coordinator to develop a veteran volunteer program.
