Job summary

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in community relations.
• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and governmental agencies.
• Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to plan, organize and participate in community outreach events; analyze and evaluate effectiveness; prepare and present statistical data and formal reports.
• Excellent oral and written communication; establish and maintain positive relationships with media, government agencies and the public.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a current file of veterans and benefits/services.
• Contacts and meets with organizations, colleges, and businesses.
• Interacts with veterans and dependents about eligibility and information dissemination.
• Conducts surveys and reports on veteran participation and program impact.
• Disseminates information about benefits, programs, and events via media and web pages.
• Coordinates outreach activities with public and private agencies to meet veterans' needs.
• Advises groups seeking funding for veterans programs.
