Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Housing Navigator to support the SSVF program and help end homelessness among Veterans. You will work with area HUD-VASH teams to connect Veterans with long-term housing stability and advocate for access to housing resources.

This role requires a Bachelor's in social work or related field (or equivalent experience), exceptional communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 90% while promoting trauma-informed, culturally inclusive services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field (or equivalent).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have a personal automobile and valid driver’s license; travel up to 90%.
• Commitment to the principles of SSVF; trauma-informed, culturally inclusive services.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with HUD-VASH teams to assist Veterans in housing stability.
• Advocate for Veterans with housing authorities and landlords.
• Develop partnerships with community agencies to expand housing options.
• Educate participants on HUD-VASH, Section 8, and fair housing guidelines.
