Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a part‑time Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care to residents at the Minnesota Veterans Homes. You will perform regulatory visits, coordinate care, and work within a multidisciplinary team across MVH facilities in Montevideo and Minneapolis.

This 0.8 FTE position includes four workdays per week with on‑call duties (13 weeks/year) and overtime as required. A competitive benefits package applies.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Minnesota, with no restrictions and in good standing.
• Current advanced certification in either Adult, Family, Geriatric Medicine or equivalent certification through the ANCC or AANPCB.
• Current Controlled Substance Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
• Current Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary (CPR) Certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• Two years of clinical experience working with an adult population.

Responsibilities

• Using advanced practice nursing knowledge and skills to provide and promote quality primary care for residents in Minnesota Veterans Homes.
• Provide leadership and assistance in navigating acute, complex and/or changing medical, nursing and/or behavioral management issues as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
• Participate in the on‑call rotation as designated.
• Travel between MVH nursing homes as needed.
• Work with MVH facility leadership and/or Central Administration leadership on special projects benefitting MVH residents as directed.
