Job summary

Disabled American Veterans is seeking a qualified representative to provide free, professional assistance to discharging service members in obtaining benefits and services from DoD and VA. The role requires accreditation to practice before the VA (38 CFR 14.629).

The position emphasizes strong communication, time management, and outreach to veterans. You may travel locally to trainings and meetings, and you will work with DAV records and claim forms to support clients through the benefits

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be a member in good standing of the DAV.
Basic understanding of DAV Constitution, Bylaws and Regulations.
A valid motor vehicle driver's license is required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and DAV/DoD/VA record systems.
General knowledge of legal and medical terminology preferred.
Goal attainment is evaluated by supervisory oversight of DAV's mission.

Responsibilities

Provide professional assistance to discharge service members on benefits and services.
Communicate with clients professionally in person, by phone, fax, or email.
Review service treatment records and synthesize information for VA claims.
Assist with completion of claim forms.
Develop goals and plans to prioritize and manage workload.
Travel locally for trainings, outreach, and meetings as needed.
Perform other administrative and outreach activities as directed.
