Responsibilities

• Review and prepare summaries of the veteran’s claims file including past and present VA decisions; analyze medical evidence and determine errors of law.
• Review medical records and evidence to determine which records to solicit and request VA questionnaires.
• Assist claimants with drafting lay statements and independent medical opinion requests; prepare case summaries for medical consultants.
• Proofread and research briefs written by claims agents as needed.
• Review cases for viability and closure; contact claimants to review outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge of VA programs and procedures and document all actions.
• Mentor peers and support staff; participate in training sessions.
• Assist with claims agent duties on an as-needed basis and work on special projects.
