Job summary

Calhoun Community College is seeking a Financial Aid Specialist to process and maintain student financial aid files and assist students with completing all aspects of financial aid at the Huntsville campus.

The role involves processing loans, work-study, appeals, and professional judgments, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Experience with Banner, Degree Works, and VA processes is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year postsecondary education (32 semester hours) in a related field and one year of related work experience.
• Ability to utilize Excel or other database software to sort and manage lists and reporting.
• Ability to utilize Word or other word processing tools to prepare and communicate information including mail merge.
• Knowledge of FAFSA processes and financial aid policies.
• Understanding of FERPA and SAP policies.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain student financial aid files and assist students with completing all aspects of financial aid.
• Assist with processing financial aid and other forms including loans, work-study, appeals, professional judgement, and terms and conditions.
• Process financial aid returns to Title IV (R2T4) and review files for accuracy.
• Answer student questions in person, by phone, and via email; provide financial literacy guidance.
• Oversee Veterans Affairs at Huntsville Campus and maintain VA files and reporting.
