Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a Financial Aid Advisor to assist Midlands Technical College Airport Campus in guiding students and families through financial aid options and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Advise students and parents regarding financial aid programs and procedures.
• Review and evaluate financial aid eligibility based on federal, state and institutional guidelines.
• Process loan certifications for Direct, PLUS, and alternative loans.
• Award and adjust aid in accordance with guidelines; adjust cost of attendance budgets.
• Authorize payments of financial aid and adjust student records.
• Assist with planning and implementing policies, procedures and processes of the Student Financial Services Office.
• Plan and participate in financial planning workshops for students, parents and community agencies.

Job description

Advises student and parents regarding financial assistance programs. Disseminates accurate and timely information to include application procedures, eligibility requirements and Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. Reviews and evaluates financial aid applicant files to determine eligibility based on federal, state and institutional law, regulations and/or guidelines. Reviews and evaluates documentation on student files selected for the verification process and resolve discrepancies. Process electronic and manual loan certifications of Direct, PLUS, and alterative loans. Awards and adjusts awards in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; adjusts cost of attendance budgets in accordance with institutional guidelines; reviews, evaluates and makes decisions related to student submission of “Special Circumstances" in accordance with federal, state and institutional guidelines. Authorizes payment of financial assistance and appropriate adjustments to student records. Assists with the planning and implementation of policies, procedures and processes of the Student Financial Services Office. Plans, develops and participates in financial planning workshops for students, parents and community agencies (with Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties). Performs all other duties as assigned.

This position will be located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus
