Job summary

USVETS Phoenix is seeking an experienced Veteran Talent Specialist to connect veterans with meaningful employment opportunities. You will recruit, develop employer relations, coach veterans, and manage pipelines using CRM tools to track progress and outcomes.

You will build partnerships with employers, universities, veteran organizations, and community partners while guiding veterans through resume development, interview prep, and job placement to secure successful outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, Social Services, or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in recruiting, job development, career coaching, or professional development may substitute for the degree.
  • Experience sourcing candidates and engaging hiring managers or business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with recruiters, HR leaders, hiring managers, and military talent program representatives.
  • Develop a pipeline of employment opportunities through outreach, calls, networking, research, and partnerships.
  • Identify military-friendly employers and create warm referral networks across industries and markets.
  • Coordinate employer networking events, recruiting events, workshops, and job fairs.
  • Represent USVETS Career Network with employers, universities, veteran organizations, and community partners.
  • Meet regularly with veterans to understand career goals and Employment Development Plans.
  • Help veterans translate military experience into marketable skills and identify opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, personal value propositions, and job search strategies.
  • Conduct interview preparation, mock interviews, and professional development coaching.
  • Connect veterans with employment opportunities and follow up through placement.
  • Maintain accurate client, employer, job opportunity, and placement records in CRM.
  • Use Agile CRM, job boards, and other technology to manage talent pipelines and promote jobs and training.
  • Track employment outcomes and meet program performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the program team to address barriers to employment and improve outcomes.

About the Role

The Veteran Talent Specialist combines recruiting, employer relations, business development, and career coaching to connect veterans with meaningful employment opportunities. This role builds relationships with employers and hiring leaders, develops job opportunities, and coaches veterans through the employment process from career planning and resume development to interviewing and job placement.

What You’ll Do
Employer Relations & Recruiting
  • Build and maintain relationships with recruiters, HR leaders, hiring managers, and military talent program representatives.
  • Develop a pipeline of employment opportunities through employer outreach, cold and warm calls, networking, research, and community partnerships.
  • Identify military-friendly employers and create warm referral networks across industries and geographic markets.
  • Coordinate employer networking events, recruiting events, workshops, and job fairs.
  • Represent U.S.VETS Career Network with employers, universities, veteran organizations, and community partners.
Veteran Career Coaching
  • Meet regularly with veterans to understand career goals, Employment Development Plans, skills, and employment needs.
  • Help veterans translate military experience into marketable skills and identify appropriate career opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, personal value propositions, and job search strategies.
  • Conduct interview preparation, mock interviews, and professional development coaching.
  • Connect veterans with employment opportunities aligned with their skills, experience, and career goals and follow up through placement.
Program & Pipeline Management
  • Maintain accurate client, employer, job opportunity, and placement records in CRM and tracking systems.
  • Use Agile CRM, job boards, and other technology to manage talent pipelines and promote jobs, events, and training opportunities.
  • Track employment outcomes, maintain case notes, obtain employment verification, and meet program performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the program team and supervisor to address barriers to employment and improve participant outcomes.
Qualifications
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, Social Services, or a related field. Two years of relevant experience in recruiting, job development, career coaching, or professional development may substitute for the degree.
  • At least one year of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, career coaching, workforce development, employer relations, business development, or a related field.
  • Experience sourcing candidates, developing employer relationships, and engaging hiring managers or business leaders.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM, ATS, or applicant tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and community partners.
  • Professional, energetic, creative, and solutions-oriented approach to recruiting and career development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with veterans, military talent, workforce development, or nonprofit employment programs.
  • Experience with Agile CRM, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms.
  • Knowledge of veteran employment resources, military-friendly employers, and local labor markets.
