Job summary

Veterans Leadership Program (VLP) is Western and Central Pennsylvania’s premier Veteran service organization dedicated to empowering Veterans to navigate life transitions and reach their fullest potential.

The Veteran Assistant under the Low Demand Program will create a welcoming, caring, and professional environment for clients and assist Veterans experiencing homelessness in transitioning into permanent housing. This is a part-time, on-site position located in Pittsburgh, PA.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma required.
• First Aid-CPR preferred.
• De-escalation training preferred.
• Medical observer training preferred.
• FBI, Act 33 and 34 clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor one or more assigned clients on a designated unit.
• Maintain client confidentiality.
• Monitor for signs of escalating behaviors.
• Provide handoff communication to the next Veteran Assistant when relieved of duties.
• Document observations in client records and monitoring tools.
• Create a professional, caring client experience and anticipate needs.
• Respond to inquiries from employees, clients, and others.
• Assist intake by scheduling appointments and inputting basic client information into the EHR.
• Document encounters in the organizational EHR.
