Job summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) seeks a Military/Veteran Peer Support Specialist III (Per Diem) for the Military Services within UBHC. Under supervision, provides consumer-friendly, culturally competent peer support to individuals contacting the Call Center via phone, chat, and text, assessing needs and making appropriate referrals and dispositions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least three years of active duty service or 30 days in a combat zone (including medically discharged/retired) or four years in the National Guard.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer-friendly services, engaging individuals served in an empathetic manner.
• Provides direct care services consistent with UBHC philosophy.
• Reviews service requests/referrals and responds per procedures.
• Documents contacts and interventions timely and per policies.
• Maintains knowledge of Center and Unit policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates good work habits.
