Job summary

USVETS Phoenix is seeking a Veteran Peer Support Specialist to empower veterans toward housing stability, recovery, and independence. You will draw on lived experience to mentor, advocate, and coach veterans, helping them access housing, healthcare, benefits, and community resources.

You will collaborate with case managers, social workers, and housing specialists to coordinate care, maintain accurate records, and conduct wellness checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Veteran status strongly preferred.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience with housing programs, recovery services, case management support, or behavioral health services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support, mentoring, coaching to veterans toward housing and recovery goals.
• Build positive relationships with veterans while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Facilitate peer support groups and life skills workshops.
• Assist veterans in accessing housing, healthcare, benefits, employment services, legal resources, and community programs.
• Coordinate with Case Managers, Social Workers, Housing Specialists, and other service providers to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate client documentation and program records.
• Conduct wellness checks, client follow-up, and supportive outreach.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation of conflicts or behavioral concerns.
