Job summary

National University is seeking a Veteran and Military Community Center Coordinator to support military-affiliated and veteran students with GI Bill funding, transition counseling, and event coordination. You will serve as the subject matter expert, guiding students and collaborating with university departments to promote success and resolve issues.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (preferred) and at least three years’ experience with veterans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in psychology, social work, communications or related fields.
• Minimum of three years’ experience with veterans or military personnel.
• Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to travel ~10% and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond to student questions related to disability services.
• Assist in VMCC day-to-day operations.
• Advocate for student veterans regarding benefits and academic challenges.
• Provide training on military education benefits to new students and admissions staff.
• Coordinate Welcome Aboard Orientation and First Week Jam events.
• Serve as the first point of contact for veteran-related inquiries.
• Offer military cultural awareness information to staff across the university.
• Collaborate with other student services to develop veteran success programs.
• Represent National University at outreach events and meetings.
