The Supportive Services for Veteran Families ( SSVF ) program is seeking a dedicated professional to provide critical, in-person case management and housing navigation services to very low-income Veteran families experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of losing their homes across northern Vermont and Clinton County, NY. Operating under a Housing with Supportive Services model, this role utilizes Motivational Interviewing and a Trauma-Informed Care approach to help Veterans and their families improve their quality of life and successfully transition into stable, permanent housing. This position requires extensive driving across northern Vermont to meet with Veterans in person, with all work-related travel reimbursed at the standard federal mileage rate.
In this position, you will play a vital role in guiding families through the housing stability process, connecting them to community resources, providing direct assistance, and stabilizing housing for Veteran families who are literally homeless and those who are in danger of losing their homes.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field and two years of applicable experience required. Effective verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills required. Ability with training to use computerized case management applications to enter and track participant information; ability to understand and explain program details and workflow required.
Experiential knowledge as a military veteran and/or with homelessness; training, education, or experience with social services support desirable. Knowledge of the HUD Homeless Management Information System desired.
