Job summary

Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHALA) seeks a Veteran Healthcare Navigator to coordinate healthcare access and housing stability for veterans in the SSVF program. You will work closely with VA, HUD‑VASH, and community partners to reduce barriers to care and housing, providing direct program support including case management as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services preferred.
• One year of providing psychiatric rehabilitation services preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare and social service resources.
• Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills including motivational interviewing and trauma‑informed care.
• Strong oral and written communication; able to work in a team.
• Experience with diverse populations; flexible schedule and reliable transportation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide veteran-centered healthcare access and housing coordination in collaboration with VA and community partners.
• Maintain accurate client records and ensure timely documentation per program standards.
• Assist enrollment in VA healthcare and public benefits; support continuity of care and medication adherence.
• Coordinate referrals and warm hand‑offs to VA Medical Centers and community providers.
• Engage in case management tasks and assist with housing placements as needed.
