Job summary

A Kia dealership in Jackson, Michigan is seeking Military Veterans for an Automotive Service Technician role as part of the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program. This full-time position offers hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing Kia vehicles while earning a Kia Service Technician certification. Eligible Veterans will receive training and support throughout the one-year GI Bill-approved apprenticeship, including a Monthly Housing Allowance during training.

Qualifications

• Honorable Discharge from U.S. Military Service.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Prior experience in a mechanical or technical field.
• Willingness to complete background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles including engines and transmissions.
• Perform vehicle inspections and diagnostics using Kia procedures.
• Complete repair orders and warranty documentation per policies.
• Test drive vehicles to verify repair quality using diagnostic tools.
• Communicate effectively with service advisors for a positive experience.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Skills

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership service environment

Basic automotive maintenance or repair experience

Familiarity with diagnostic tools and hand tools

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

ASE certifications or technical training (a plus)
