Job summary

CityVet Career Center in Chevy Chase, MD is seeking Veterinary Technicians (or Veterinary Technician Assistant with a minimum of 1 year of experience) to join our team. Compensation is based on experience and education, with comprehensive benefits for full-time staff.

The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery, restraining animals safely, obtaining samples, and assisting with exams. You’ll help improve client communication and practice efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to restrain animals safely and effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and prep patients for surgery.
• Monitor post-op patients and restrain animals during exams.
• Collect samples for testing (stool, blood, etc.).
• Administer medications and vaccines as prescribed.
• Provide client instructions and education on care.
• Support the Client Service Specialist team as needed.
