Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Vetco Total Care hospital team in Glendale, CA. The incumbent will support veterinarians with routine and emergency care, perform patient restraint, collect samples, and maintain detailed EMR documentation.

• Must have College or college-equivalent education as required for Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and able to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and begin documentation in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, and handle medications under veterinarian direction.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay results, update records and manage accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and care for sick patients, including medications and IV therapy.
• Participate in staff training and maintain a clean hospital environment.
