Petco is hiring a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care hospital in Encinitas, CA. You will deliver high-quality patient care and outstanding client service, supporting veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and daily treatments.

You will greet clients, record vitals, manage medical records, assist during procedures, and help educate pet owners. A credentialed tech with strong communication and teamwork is valued in our busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• College- or college-equivalent education required to become Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• Minimum 1 year of veterinary technician experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor.
• Strong telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients and record vital signs in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, collect labs, dispense medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, manage records and accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia and recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and care as directed.
• Train new staff and maintain a clean, organized hospital environment.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming hospital environment.
