Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. in the Baton Rouge area is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care full-service hospital operations. You will work under veterinarians and technicians to deliver high-quality care and excellent customer service to pet owners.

The role focuses on patient prep, assisting during procedures, medical record documentation, and ensuring a clean, efficient hospital environment. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary practice experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Pleasant telephone manner and good computer skills.
• Team player who is compassionate and able to handle stressful situations.

Responsabilités

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and document visits in EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients as needed and process samples and medications under supervision.
• Schedule appointments and provide client education; maintain client/patient records.
• Assist in anesthesia and monitor patients during procedures and recovery.
• Perform in-hospital treatments and provide post-care instructions.
