Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education as required to becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic and maintain a professional attitude during emotional situations.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and accept change.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients and escort to exam room, obtain weight and vital signs, and begin documentation.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, collect and process lab samples, dispense medications.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, manage inventory and client/patient records, and handle accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and monitor anesthesia and recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and keep patients clean, hydrated, and fed as directed.
• Participate in training of new staff and maintain a clean hospital environment.
