Job summary

Clare-Gladwin RESD seeks a paraeducator to support teachers, itinerant staff, and students in instructional, health-related, recreation and pre-vocational activities. The role may cover one classroom or various assignments as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; experience with developmental disabilities is preferred; strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills are essential for interacting with students, families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.
• Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.
• Cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and apply active listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers, itinerant staff and others in instructional, health related, recreation and/or pre-vocational job training activities.
• May be assigned to one classroom or to a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students.
