Job summary

Claremore Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support instruction under supervision, assisting certified staff with students to meet goals and to free teachers for other duties.

The role includes reinforcing reading, language arts, math, and computer-based learning; working with students individually or in small groups; supporting classroom management and collaboration with teachers and families to support IEP objectives.

Qualifications

• Assists with reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Helps administer and correct classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and records.
• Supports teachers in lesson preparation and material distribution.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion.
• Supports behavior management to maintain a safe, on-task learning environment.
• Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
• Assists with parent contact to foster involvement in student education.
• Performs non-instructional duties as assigned to support the classroom.
