Job summary

Clare-Gladwin RESD in Clare, MI is seeking a paraeducator to support instructional, health-related, recreation and pre-vocational activities for students aged 14-17 with moderate cognitive impairments. The position follows the district calendar and is based in a classroom setting.

Starting wage is $14.37 per hour, with pay higher based on experience per the MEA contract. Schedule is Monday–Friday, approximately 6.75 hours per day during the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.
• Ability to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.
• Ability to work with children of all ages.
• Cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and active listening.

Schedule

School year position following the district calendar

Monday - Friday; 6.75 hours per day

Starting Wage

According to the MEA Contract.

$14.37 per hour, or higher - based on actual years of experience

Job Objective

The Paraeducator is responsible for assisting teachers, Itinerant staff and others in the support of instructional, health related, recreation and/or pre-vocational job training activities. The Paraeducator may be assigned to one classroom or to a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.


• Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.


• Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.


• Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.


• Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.


• Must demonstrate cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and apply active listening skills.
