Job summary

Clare-Gladwin RESD seeks a paraeducator to support teachers, itinerant staff, and students in instructional, health-related, recreation and pre-vocational activities. The role may cover one classroom or various assignments as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; experience with developmental disabilities is preferred; strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills are essential for interacting with students, families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.
• Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.

All Classrooms (Area School and Early Childhood Special Education Program)

Reports To

Classroom Teacher and Principal

Wages

According to the MEA Contract. $14.37 per hour, or higher - based on actual years of experience

Job Objective

The Paraeducator is responsible for assisting teachers, Itinerant staff and others in the support of instructional, health related, recreation and/or pre-vocational job training activities. The Paraeducator may be assigned to one classroom or to a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students.
