Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks substitutes to cover classrooms, supervise students, and maintain continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute communicates effectively with students, staff, and the public.

Daily and long-term substitute rates are provided, and substitutes may be assigned to a single site with daily reporting requirements. The role supports LCPS policies and the learning goals of students across content areas.

Qualifications

• Virginia teaching license or eligible for licensure via an accredited university or college.
• Experience as lead teacher/instructor/professor of adults or children preferred.
• Experience teaching or training adults or children in a non-classroom public school environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to LCPS curriculum and follows provided lesson plans.
• Observe, follow LCPS policies and expectations.
• Supervise students at all times and prioritize safety and educational goals.
• Provide feedback to the absent employee after each assignment with a summary.
• Site-based substitutes are assigned to a single location and report daily.
• Long-term substitutes may plan lessons, develop assessments, deliver instruction and communicate with parents.
