Loudoun County Public Schools seeks substitutes to cover classrooms, supervise students, and maintain continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute communicates effectively with students, staff, and the public.
Daily and long-term substitute rates are provided, and substitutes may be assigned to a single site with daily reporting requirements. The role supports LCPS policies and the learning goals of students across content areas.
Substitutes serve as temporary employees and assume responsibility for all aspects of the learning environment, including, but not limited to, supervising students, managing student behavior, and ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the employee. The substitute communicates effectively with students, staff, and the public.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Substitutes are employed on an at-will basis and are not considered contractual employees.
