Job summary

Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Verifications team to own a wide surface area, improve data quality, and scale automation across a complex mix of fulfillment integrations and compliance requirements. You will drive faster delivery while upholding stringent accuracy standards in a regulated environment.

You’ll partner with Product and Compliance to shape roadmaps and translate regulatory needs into engineering priorities, while mentoring engineers and building a strong, scalable

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an engineering manager with a track record of building high-performing teams.
• 8+ years as a software engineer with service architecture, distributed systems, and system design.
• Experience managing complex third-party integration environments.
• Track record of improving operational metrics in high-stakes production environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools.
• Experience working on regulated products where data accuracy and legal compliance are non-negotiable.
• Strong incident management skills.
• Ability to prioritize quickly with a clear framework for balancing short-term reliability work against long-term product investments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team—setting technical direction, driving performance, and building a hiring pipeline.
• Own the reliability and quality of a broad portfolio of fulfillment integrations—partner with vendors and stakeholders to reduce friction and improve turnaround times.
• Partner with Product to define and execute the roadmap across employment, education, drug and health, and compliance products.
• Drive technical strategy for scaling a complex, integration-heavy system with architecture decisions that enhance coverage and automation.
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices to move faster while maintaining quality.
• Represent Verifications in cross-functional planning with Product, Compliance, and Engineering leadership.
